Louise Colver, from Shobnall in Burton, along with former colleague Natasha Skeen, walked off with the £3,000 prize on BBC1’s Pointless.
The show, presented by Alexander Armstrong, sees contestants try to score as few points as possible by plumbing the depths of their general knowledge to come up with the answers no-one else can think of.
Louise, 35, is a Learning Centre Supervisor at the University based at Burton, Wolverhampton and Walsall.
She said: “When we used to work together, I’d talk about the show with Natasha and we decided to have a look to see if they were taking applications.
“We applied online, went through an audition and then got invited to take part in the show. We went through four rounds and ended up walking away with the trophy and the top prize, which was £3,000.
“We hoped we’d do well and reach the final but having watched the show we knew it is quite difficult to win the jackpot.
“I’m planning to use my half of the money to take my family to Disneyland Paris as I promised my two children I’d take them.”
The show was filmed in April but was aired on television last Wednesday.
