Mobile office project launches online

The University of Wolverhampton, together with the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), is helping to fund the Agile Office Demonstrator scheme, which will show companies how to take advantage of wireless and mobile technologies.

The project has been designed to help regional small and medium enterprises make use of remote working practices to help them to break free from the traditional office environment and help them to work in a more flexible and agile way.

Based at the University’s Telford Innovation campus the project will showcase a range of new technologies, like smartphones, laptops and tablets, and Cloud-based software, which stores information online and can be accessed wirelessly from anywhere.

The project can provide a free two day consultancy to companies who may be looking to adopt these technologies and along with a tour of the demonstrator centre where visitors will have the opportunity to use the technologies and be guided on its use in their business. There will also be free access to seminars as well as links to academic research.

And on October 10, the project will launch with a virtual demonstration. It will be held online in a “webinar” – an online seminar.

Participants will be able to watch and listen to the different speakers and find out how their business can benefit from the project. All this can be done from any PC. To register, visit https://agileoffice.eventbrite.co.uk/

Norman Price, Deputy Chair of the West Midlands ERDF Local Management Committee said,

“The best way to explain how new technologies and the web can help a business increase its productivity, reduce costs, improve resilience and grow, is through showing it in a real situation’

“This ERDF supported project will help to provide this effective method by showcasing emerging technologies through a demonstration centre based at the University of Wolverhampton.

“Businesses from the Marches and the Black Country will be able come and see for themselves just how better use of technology will benefit them whilst also gaining access to specialist advice and guidance.”
