Theatre to stage equality talk

18/10/2013

The event, entitled ‘The Dracula Syndrome! Who’s afraid of the man in the mirror?’, will feature a lecture from Dr Lez Henry, founder of BLK Friday, former lecturer at Goldsmiths College and current lead trainer on the Mayor of London’s Mentoring Programme aimed at black boys.

An entertaining public speaker, his talk will focus on why other groups are encouraged to remember their past, while it seems people of African ancestry are encouraged to be historically amnesic.

Dr Henry’s talk is a free event, although booking is essential. It will take place on Thursday 24 October, commencing at 5:30pm.

Speaking about the event, Bali Brophy, Equality and Diversity Administrator at the University of Wolverhampton, said: ““Dr Henry’s talk on race equality issues promises to provide a lively and interesting discussion.

“We’re delighted that he’s visiting the University of Wolverhampton to give this talk, particularly during Black History Month. I’d urge everyone interested in coming along to the event to book up their place as soon as possible.”

To book a place for the talk, or for more information, contact Bali Brophy in the University’s Equality and Diversity Unit on 01902 322954 or b.brophy@wlv.ac.uk
