Healthcare conference to be held by University

The “Inspiring Innovation in Healthcare” conference, to be held on Tuesday 15 October, will bring together a panel of experts and keynote speakers from the healthcare field to allow them to share their views on how improvement and innovation in practice can be achieved to enable the best outcomes for patients.

The conference will also mark the launch of a new post-graduate degree to be offered at the University - MSc Advanced Practice for Allied Health Professionals – subject to approval.

The event will feature three keynote speakers from the industry, including Professor Elizabeth Hughes, Elizabeth Salem, and Professor David Pratt.

Professor Elizabeth Hughes is the Director of Education and Quality at the West Midlands Local Education and Training Board, responsible for the training of over 5,000 junior doctors throughout the West Midlands Region.

Elizabeth Salem is the ULF Project Manager of The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists.

Professor David Pratt is the Clinical Lead for the Clinical Measurements Laboratory and Trust Lead for NICE Implementation at Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust.

The event will be held at the University’s Walsall Campus between 12 noon and 4:30pm, and is hosted by the School of Health and Wellbeing based there.

It will include an expert panel discussion, as well as a complimentary lunch where a chance for guests to network is available.

Speaking about the conference, Val Woodward, Head of Continuing Education and Workforce Development at the University, said: “The healthcare conference promises to be an interesting and informative event and everyone connected with the School of Health and Wellbeing is looking forward to it immensely.
