Degree on hold for student cyclist

12/11/2013

A student at the University of Wolverhampton is putting his education on hold to pursue his dream of becoming a professional cyclist.

Adam Lewis, a BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance student from Willenhall, is moving to Adam Lewis Belgium to compete for a professional team after a successful youth career in the UK.

Adam has been the West Midlands regional road race champion for the past two years, and has since followed that up with a Top 10 place in the Junior Tour of Ireland and multiple Top 10 places in races in Belgium.

Off the back of his success Adam has been signed up to race for Team Terra Footwear Bicycle Line, based in Belgium.

Speaking about his chance to move abroad, Adam said: “I had been contacting teams in the UK before I committed to Team Terra, however the competition is so fierce in the UK now.

“Team Terra are a very professional outfit. They compete in some of the biggest races in Belgium and France, and hopefully if I can pick up some good results I can keep moving through the ranks.

“This is a really exciting opportunity for me and I can’t wait to pit myself against the very best in professional cycling.”

Adam is currently seeking sponsorship to help him fulfil his dream. For more information about sponsorship contact Adam on adamlewis602@gmail.com
