Nurses to showcase quality of care ideas

16/11/2011

(SHAW) students will present posters illustrating their project work at the Walsall Campus on Friday, 25 November 2011.

The 15 students are all qualified nurses who completed the BSc Nursing Studies degree part-time. They were asked to produce posters as evidence of a service improvement project they had implemented in practice in order to improve quality of care for patients.

The presentation will be attended by figures from the Strategic Health Authority (SHA), educational leads from the local health Trusts and members of SHAW staff, including the Dean Professor Linda Lang.

Val Woodward, Senior Lecturer, Continuous Professional Development, said: “The course was structured around what employers want and the modules designed to improve quality of care for patients. The students, who are from both acute and community settings, looked at areas where there could be an improvement to the quality of care and efficiency of the service delivery.

“The standard has been very high and we are looking forward to seeing their work presented on the posters.”

The BSc Nursing Studies is focused on current health and social care policy and was designed specifically to develop leaders and mentors of the future. The course has provided graduate skills of leadership and project management in health and social care in order to cultivate a confident nursing workforce for the future.
