New technology provides helping hand to college students

08/12/2011

The University of Wolverhampton has been helping Shrewsbury Sixth Form College students to understand the new student finance system which starts next year.

Staff from the University’s School of Technology, based in Wolverhampton, have used video conferencing to hold live discussions with the College students covering issues such as careers advice and employment opportunities.

Jas Uppal, Head of Admissions and Education Partnerships, said: “The video conferencing supplements the University’s face-to-face activities with school and college students in the region, and is a friendly and accessible way of communicating.

“It also uses technology that the students are already familiar with, and enables interactive discussion between the students and experts.”

The first video conferencing session was held on Tuesday, 6 December 2011.
