Focus on financing small businesses

Professor Khaled Soufani, from Canada, will discuss financing small businesses at the lecture on Tuesday, 18 May 2010.

Professor Soufani is an Associate Professor and Director of the Desjardins Centre for Innovation in Business Finance at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.

The lecture has been organised by the University’s Management Research Centre and will take place in the Chaplaincy Centre in Molineux Street, Wolverhampton at 10am.

Dr Yong Wang, joint head of the Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management Research Cluster in the Management Research Centre, said: “We are delighted to host the seminar of internationally celebrated Professor Khaled Soufani. He specialises in the financial affairs of small and medium-sized enterprises, venture capital and private equity, corporate finance, and financial and managerial strategy.

“Given the increasing concern over small firms’ survival and growth under the current recessionary climate, the seminar is timely and will offer great opportunities for the audience to develop insights into the small business financing world.”

Professor Soufani specialises in the financial and economic affairs of small and medium sized enterprises, focusing on corporate finance, financial and managerial strategy.

He has previously lectured at the Faculty of Economics and the Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge and a number of European universities. He has also worked in the financial market and was a consultant for various corporations in the area of economic analysis and financial management.
