Student reaches X Factor Boot Camp

24/09/2009

Solo singer Treyc Cohen, 25, impressed Simon Cowell and the rest of the panel on Saturday night’s show with her rendition of I’m Every Woman.

She was then shown excitedly ringing her 13 brothers and sisters to tell them the good news.

Now students and staff at the University are wishing her good luck as she faces the Boot Camp stages of the hit ITV show on Saturday.

Treyc, from Tamworth, has completed the first year of a BA (Hons) Popular Music at the University’s School of Sport, Performing Arts and Leisure.

Her tutor Steve Cooper says Treyc can not reveal how far she has progressed, but everyone in the music department and the rest of the University has their fingers crossed for her.

Steve said: “The fact that Treyc has reached the Boot Camp stages of the competition did not come as a shock to anyone in the music department as she is a superb singer and performer. I would say she stands a good chance of progressing further.

“We are all delighted with what she has achieved so far and will be watching to see how she does on Saturday.”
