University co-hosts international conference

The 3rd International Ajman Urban Planning Conference will take place from Monday, April 6 to Wednesday, April, 8 2009 at Ajman University, Ajman, in the United Arab Emirates.

The event will look at architecture and urban planning around the world, and aims to address the various aspects of urban development and sustainability.

Professor Sabah Mushatat, Chair of the Technical and Scientific Committee, at the University of Wolverhampton, said: “The increasing urbanisation of many parts of the world, coupled with other global issues such as environmental pollution, energy consumption, and resources shortage are resulting in major urban crises. A total of 57 world leading architects, urban planners and academic people from 12 countries will participate in this conference through research papers and architectural presentations.

“In an effort to explore and map the challenges and opportunities of sustainable development, Ajman Municipality, in collaboration   of University of Wolverhampton, have joined together to organise this conference.”

Professor Sir Geoff Hampton, Pro Vice Chancellor Education Partnerships at the University of Wolverhampton, will be presenting one of the opening speeches. The conference is organised under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman.
