Welcome to the Centre for Academic Practice

Our Mission is to promote, inform, support and celebrate the best, and distinctive University of Wolverhampton learning and teaching practices.

The Centre of Academic Practice (CAP) vision is to help to enable all students to achieve and attain their very best through a rich and varied provision, which aims to personalise learning, and which seeks to set the highest standards in terms of inspiring learners, providing enjoyable formal and informal learning experiences and which relates to the professional application of knowledge and skills.

Academic staff will share problems and solutions, and will be enabled to develop personally and professionally through collaboration, experimentation and evaluation.  CAP will support the University in developing its mission, and will promote and monitor its provision of learning and teaching.

CAP will assist all staff and Faculties in addressing the demands of external agencies in a way which leads to continuous improvement.  CAP will draw on the expertise of academic staff to develop a distinctive but consistent approach to academic practices.

The Values of CAP are:

  • Equality of opportunity
  • Academic staff ownership of their own development
  • Evidence based practice
  • Learning from good practice
  • Addressing weak practice
