Terms of Reference

To advise and make recommendations to Academic Board on:

  1. The implementation of strategy and the development of policy in relation to the enhancement of the student experience, including the Wolverhampton Student Experience Strategy, the Learning,Teaching and Assessment Strategy and the Employability and Enterprise Stratey;
  2. The development and promotion of strategically-led initiatives, activities and institution-wide changes, designed to enhance the student experience;
  3. To receive, analyse and confirm annually the status recommendations of relevant Key Performance Indicators, for transmission to the Academic Board,  Planning and Resource Committee and the Board of Governors;
  4. To monitor and discuss developments in the sector relating to the student experience, employability and teaching and learning, and make recommendations to Academic Board on appropriate strategy and policy;
  5. To consider, evaluate and recommend ways to disseminate, promote and evaluate good practice in enhancing the student experience;
  6. To monitor the effectiveness of the student partnership in quality enhancement through the analysis of student feedback; survey results and the implementation of actions to address areas of concern;
  7. To maintain oversight of the academic misconduct processes and monitor business;
  8. To maintain oversight of Faculty Student Experience committees;
  9. To produce a University Student Experience summary report to Academic Board;
  10. To maintain oversight of the Student Charter.

The Committee will do this by:

  • Formally reviewing the University’s performance and student satisfaction, to recommend responses and action planning from student surveys;
  • Reviewing and recommending responses/action planning from direct student views, including complaints, constructive feedback systems and student issues raised in other fora;
  • Identifying and disseminating good practice in student support initiatives;
  • Reviewing and seeking improvement in the quality of services provided for students across the University and its collaborative partners;
  • Providing oversight and steer to University-wide initiatives aimed at improving the student experience;
  • Monitoring progress against goals laid out in the Wolverhampton Student Experience Strategy action plan;
  • Monitor progress of work-streams appertaining to the student experience from central University departments, e.g. College of Learning and Teaching.
