Professor Gill Nicholls

Gill was a Co-opted Governor until April 2016 and is now a Nominated Member of the governing body.

Term of office: 1st term of office to 27th March 2017

Professor Gill Nicholls is the Vice President and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs at the University of Surrey. She is responsible for the Student Experience, Learning & Teaching, Widening Participation, Quality Enhancement, Quality Assurance, Learning Resource & Library, Visual Learning Environment, Technology Enhanced Learning and Academic Development in Higher Education.

A graduate of the University of London, Gill has held the posts of Director of King’s Institute of Learning and Teaching (KILT) at King’s College University of London; Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Student Experience) at Durham University; Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at Salford University and now, her current post as Vice President and DVC, Academic Affairs at the University of Surrey.

Amongst others, she is on the Council of the All-Party Parliamentary University Group, the HEA National DVC/PVC Network for Teaching and Learning, the Teaching Excellence and Student Opportunity Steering Advisory Committee (HEFCE) and former Chair of the Leadership Foundation National DVC/PVC Network.
