Dr Jo Wright joined the University of Wolverhampton in August 2018 as its Academic Registrar. She has worked in the higher education administration, quality assurance and management for more than 20 years, at a diverse range of universities across the public and private sectors.
Her early career was spent in public sector universities in London and the Midlands from 1995 to 2008, culminating with five years as Director of Academic Office at the University of Northampton. She then moved into the independent sector becoming Academic Registrar at BPP University and then Registrar at Arden University, prior to joining Wolverhampton in 2018. She has also worked in FE governance and has taught part-time at the University of Central England.
Jo has a BA (Hons) in English Literature (University of North London), an MA in Comparative Literature (Africa/Asia) from the School of Oriental and African Studies and a PhD in West African Studies from the University of Birmingham.
Her role at the University of Wolverhampton includes management of student administration from admissions through to graduation, plus oversight of the academic regulations and academic governance. She is also Vice Chair of the Academic Registrars Council UKVI Practitioner Group.
Jo grew up in Gnosall and went to High School in Stafford, so is pleased that through her role at the University she is able to give something back to the region.
