Competition Terms and Conditions

By entering our Open Day Competition, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:


1.1 Information on how to enter forms part of the terms of entry.


2.1 Subject to clause 2.2 entry is open to all residents in the UK.

2.2 Directors, management, employees and their immediate families from The University of Wolverhampton (the "Promoter"), and their associated agencies and companies are not eligible to enter.

2.3 All entrants under the age of 18 must obtain the prior permission of a parent or guardian over the age of 18 to enter. If the winners are under the age of 18 at the conclusion of the Competition Period, the prizes will be awarded to the winner's parent or guardian.


3.1 The Competition commences on Saturday 18 November 2017 at 00:01am (GMT) and all entries must be received by Monday 20 November 2017 at 09:00am (GMT) (the "Competition Period").

3.2 Details of entry submission. Submissions need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Submissions need to be in photo, video and/or text format and shared on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #jointhepack tagging either @wlv_uni on Twitter or @wlvuni on Instagram.
  2. Any photos/videos submitted must be your own original work and you must own the copyright and have permission of anyone featured in the image.
  3. Photos that show logos, brand names, or trademarks are not allowed
  4. Entrants can submit as many photos as they like
  5. Posts must be submitted by Monday 20 November 2017 at 09:00am (GMT)
  6. Entrants must consent to their image being used for marketing and publicity purposes by the University of Wolverhampton. The image may be used in displays, posters, leaflets, social media, publications, web pages. The images may be used for future marketing for a period not exceeding 4 years
  7. All photos will be credited

3.2 In order to enter the user should submit a photo using #jointhepack and tagging our corporate accounts (@wlv_uni on Twitter and @wlvuni on Instagram)

3.3. All entries must be posted to users' individual Instagram pages and/or Twitter pages using #jointhepack

3.4. All entries must be received by the advertised opening and closing time and date.

3.5 Entrants in the Competition may apply as many times as they like.

3.6 Entry details remain the property of the Promoter and will not be returned to the entrant. The winners of the Competition agree to grant the Promoter a perpetual and non-exclusive licence to use their entries in all media worldwide and the winners will not be entitled to any fee for such use.

3.7 Late, illegible, incomplete, defaced or corrupt entries will not be accepted. No responsibility can be accepted for lost entries and proof of transmission will not be accepted as proof of receipt. Entries must not be sent through agencies or third parties.


4.1 The Winner agrees they will not, sell or otherwise provide their story and/or photographs to any media or other organisation.

4.2 Prizes are not transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash. The Winner should seek independent financial advice about any tax implications that may arise from the prize winnings.

4.3 In participating in the Prizes, the Winner agree to participate and co-operate as required in all editorial activities relating to the Competition, including but not limited to being interviewed and photographed. The Winner agree to grant the Promoter a perpetual and non-exclusive licence to use such footage and photographs in all media worldwide and the Winners will not be entitled to any fee for such use (in such circumstances we will always contact the Winner to ask for permission - and we will always credit the photographer).


5.1 The winner will be selected from merit, so the individual post the showcases the most creativity and artistry by the Social Media team.

5.2 The winners will be notified via social media at 12pm on Monday 20 November 2017.

5.3 It is a condition of accepting the Prize that the Winners may be required to sign a legal release in a form determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.

5.4 It is a condition of accepting the Prize that the Winner must comply with all the conditions of use of the Prize and the Prize supplier's requirements. To the extent of any inconsistency with these Terms and Conditions, the terms and conditions of the Prize supplier prevail.

5.5 The Sponsor is solely responsible for the fulfilment of the Prizes.


6.1 Subject to any restrictions in law, the liability of the Promoter however arising, whether by breach of any condition or warranty implied by statute or of this agreement or of any duty of tort (including negligence) is limited to the total value of the Prize.

6.2 The Promoter, the Sponsor and their associated agencies and companies will take no responsibility for prizes damaged or lost in transit, or late, lost or misdirected mail.

6.3 The Promoter, the Sponsor and their associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any misadventure, accident, injury, loss (including but not limited to consequential loss) or claim suffered or brought by an entrant:

a) in the participation in any Prize;

b) as a consequence of late, lost or misdirected mail; or

c) due to the publication of any material, including any statements made by any staff member, journalist, other entrants or any other person.

6.4 The Promoter and its affiliates assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of, entries, and reserves the right to take any action that may be available.

6.5 If, for any reason, this Competition is not capable of being conducted as planned, including, but not limited, due to tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Competition, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, take any action that may be available, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition, subject to state legislation.

6.6 In the case of the intervention of any outside act, agent or event which prevents or significantly hinders the Promoter's ability to proceed with the Competition on the dates and in the manner described in these terms and conditions, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike, war, act of terrorism, the Promoter may in its absolute discretion cancel the Competition and recommence it from the start on the same conditions.

7.2 By entering this Competition you agree to the Promoter's use of your personal information as described on The University of Wolverhampton's Privacy Policy. All entries become the property of the Promoter and your name may be included on a database. By entering this Competition you consent to the Promoter including your name in future mail, email, SMS or other campaigns.
