Students with a Disability or Specific Learning Difficulty

New and Returning Students

New and returning students who are registered with Student Support & Wellbeing (SSSW) are invited to attend drop-in days during the month of September.  Staff and students will be on hand to help you get ready for the new academic year.

You can come to the university on the Drop-in days during any of the advertised times as often as you wish to get the help you need.  There are other important events that you need to attend is the Student Support & Wellbeing (SSW) Team Induction Talk.  You will need to register your place before arriving at these events.

DSA Support Agency Days

If you recieve Disabled Student's Allowances (DSA), we encourage you to arrange your support as early as possible, so that everything is in place for semester 1.

If you have been awarded DSA, you will be sent a DSA award letter, letting you know which agency will provide your support. Your support may be provided by an external support agency or the University of Wolverhampton.  They are referred to in your letter as a Non-Medical Help (NMH) Provider.  If you would like to meet your agency to arrange your support, they will be available to see you at the university on the 6th September.  Arranging your support early will avoid delays and disappointment. See details below.

If you recieve your DSA letter after the 6th September or cannot travel to Wolverhampton before moving into university accommodation, and want to meet your support provider, you must attend on the 18th September. See details below.

If you are confident about contacting the NMH Provider and arranging support yourself, please do this without delay. If you need help from university staff and the support agency, please confirm your attendance by registering on the appropriate drop-in day.

Please see the tables below to find out which DSA day you should attend and then click the BOOK HERE beneath the information on the Induction Talk to register.

Orientation and Drop-in Days

During the early days of September, City, Walsall and Telford Campuses will be relatively quiet.  There will be less people about, so beat the queues by coming on campus early to get yourself ready for university.

Week beginning the 18th September, there will a lot more people around.  Students will be moving into university accommodation.  Many students will be on campus for pre-induction activities such as 'Ready Steady Go...' and Students' Union activities as well as enrolling on their courses. Graduates, their families and staff, will also be on campus for Graduation Ceremonies.  City campus will be busy, however, SSW staff and students will be available to assist you in any way we can.

If you need further support, advice or help with problem solving, specialist support staff will be available on these Drop-in days.  If you are having difficulty in arranging your support from an external agency or the university, we can help with that too. The Drop-in rooms are in the Alan Turing (MI) building on the ground floor.  The room has a number of computers and a printer nearby. The SSW staff will be on hand to assist you in any they can.

All take place in the Alan Turing Building (MI001) on City Campus
