Accommodation Accessibility

Disability covers a range of conditions including hearing and visual impairments, mental health difficulties, mobility impairments, Autistic Spectrum Disorders and 'unseen' disabilities such as epilepsy.

If you have specific accommodation requirements linked to a disability please contact the Accommodation Services office as soon as you know you are wanting accommodation, if you have not done so already you will need to liaise with the Student Enabling Centre

There are a number of purpose built rooms for students with disabilities:

  • There are rooms suitable for wheelchair users with level access bathrooms
  • Adjacent accommodation can also be made available for carers
  • Several halls have push entry systems to increase ease of access
  • Rooms adapted for other mobility issues
  • Rooms set up for students with hearing impairments
  • Adaptions can be made to rooms to make them more suitable for individual needs
  • Pens for sensory impairment dogs

If you require an adapted room please contact Accommodation Services 01902 321268 for an application form to be sent out to you. Once this has been received the appropriate accommodation can be matched against your requirements. This may involve you attending a meeting to ensure all of your support requirements are discussed to provide you with independent student living.

Please note that the Disabled Student Allowance is not currently available for students from overseas.

Reporting Crime

If you are a student who has a sensory impairment, then you can setup your phone to contact the emergency services via SMS. You need to register for this service via the emergency sms website.
