Volunteer Certificate

There are a number of awards that you can work towards on your Volunteering journey. These certificates are awarded in conjunction with Volunteer Central and can be combined with any volunteering you may be involved in. These certificates acknowledge the importance of volunteering and recognises the achievements and transferable skills developed which will enhance your employability. They cover all volunteering carried out, however long or short, casual or regular, within the University (such as Team Captains, Ambassador roles, assisting with Sports Events etc) or in the community (such as coaching a local club team, being a committee member at a local club, assisting with the social media and events such as Parkrun etc).

You will automatically be registered for the volunteering certificate when you create a volunteer profile which can be done by visiting the Volunteer Central web pages. It will also be acknowledged on your student record when you graduate - something to impress future employers with alongside your academic achievements.

Certificates are awarded as follows and hours are accumulated throughout your University life

Casual - 10 hours

Bronze - 50 hours

Silver - 200 hours

Gold - 400 hours

Excellence - 500 hours +

 

Sports Volunteering Ambassador Scheme

If you complete and register your Volunteering hours you can qualify for the scheme and receive the following:-

An Ambassador Hoody and T-Shirt (Subject to availability)

Access to a Bursary to fund training (Subject to availability)

Receive the Bronze Certificate

 

Volunteer Awards

There are also annual Volunteering awards celebrating the achievements of all student volunteers. the awards are for outstanding contribution and recognises the commitment and achievements of our most dedicated students. To be eligible to apply or be nominated you must have logged a minimun of 50 hours of volunteering on your Volunteer Central profile. Additionally there is a Sports Volunteering award presented at our annual Sports Awards evening.

Training

All volunteers will soon be able to to gain access to free on-line training to support the development of your employability skills and in certain cases receive support to attend sports training and NGB Awards in coaching and officiating.
