Group Exercise Classes

At the University we are proud to host a diverse range of Group Exercises Classes that suit every level of fitness, so why not come a long and try a few out. Our friendly staff and experienced instructors will guide you through every step to help you achieve your fitness goals.

Please be aware with the summer holidays appraoching Staff will be taking time off this may lead to class cancellations where cover is not avaliable. If unsure please contact the relevant centre to confirm the class you want is running before traveling to us. Thank you.

*All classes are free with Premier/ Student, Premier prepay/Student prepay and Staff Wellbeing Memberships.

Lifestyle, Lifestyle prepay will gain free entry to classes before 5pm weekdays and weekends. Exercise classes will be charged at Non-Member rates from 5pm onwards.

Student Halls Members will gain free entry to all telford classes. All City and Walsall classes are included before 4pm weekdays and weekends. Exercise classes will be charged at Non-Member rates from 4pm onwards, unless a Halls Upgrade has been purchased.

Aerobics

Back to the old school with this traditional class, boxstep and grapevine yourself into fabulous shape whilst having fun. This is an excellent class for all levels of fitness. 

Body Conditioning

This is a full body workout using light weights and body weight exercises; this class will give your body the all over toned look and increase your fitness levels. This class includes standing and floor work. 

Boot Camp

Boot Camp is a type of interval training,with bursts of intense activity alternated with intervals of lighter activity. 

Boxercise

Boxercise is an exercise class based on the training concepts boxers use to keep fit. Classes can take a variety of formats, a typical class may involve shadow-boxing, skipping, hitting pads, press ups, shuttle runs and sit ups. The class is aimed at men and women of all ages and fitness levels. As no class involves physically hitting an opponent it is a fun, challenging and safe workout.

Cardio Abs

We will guide you through a full cardio and abdominal workout, which includes high-intensity core muscle exercises designed not only to make you look and feel amazing, but also to help support your body all day, every day

Circuit Training

A Circuits session consists of a series of exercises or stations performed in succession with minimal rest intervals in between. Circuits have been traditionally used as an effective way to develop both strength and cardiovascular fitness simultaneously. Circuits are suitable for everyone, with Circuits you get out what you put in!

Combat HIIT

Duathlon

A 1 hour high intensity instructor lead workout, using functional equipment, bodyweight exercises and running drills to increase strength, endurance and fitness, folowed by a 30 minute swimming pool workout to give the body a complete workout. 

Flex & Stretch

This is a low intensity workout, sometimes using resistance bands to help improve your flexibility, the class will help tone and shape muscles and improve posture.

Mindfulness

An unled session for relaxation and mindfulness, bring your favorite blanket to keep you warm and help you relax and de-stress, before going home to bed or back to the library to continue with studies. 

Olympic Circuits

Train where our resident British Judo Olympian's train, held in our purpose built Strength & Conditioning suite. WLV GYM Instructor led workout, using a number of Weight stations, functional equipment to help improve Strength, Speed, Power and your overall conditioning. 

You will not get a opportunity anywhere else to train where professional atheletes train!!! 

Pilates

 Pilates is a body conditioning routine that helps build flexibility, long and lean muscles, strength and endurance in the abdominals, legs, arms, hips and back. It puts emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing to relieve stress and allow adequate oxygen flow within the muscles, developing a strong core or centre.

Pump & Tone

An all over body workout using a selection of weight training exercises to improve muscular endurance and strength, these sessions are guaranteed to push you to your limits, burn calories and help you achieve that toned look.

Yoga

Relax body and mind with movement, stretching, breathing techniques and guided relaxation. Helping you to release stress, slow down and unwind the knots of tension that build up during the day. Feel more flexible, re-energised and better able to cope with the challenges of work, study and everyday life. Beginners welcome.

Yoga for Strength and Flexibility

Run at City Campus this class is actually a form of Iyenga Yoga which uses props to help stabilise the body, whilst strengthing throughout and increasing the bodies flexibility.
