Virtual learning via Canvas

Canvas is the University's new Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) which is used by students and staff to support learning and teaching. It is where you will find the online learning materials for your modules, module activities such as discussions and quizzes, and your assignments.

Canvas is replacing WOLF and WLVglobal for the academic year 2017/18. This means that:

  • All modules that started on/after the 1 August 2017 are using Canvas.
  • All modules that started before the 1 August 2017 are using WOLF/WLVglobal and will continue and finish those modules in WOLF/WLVglobal.

If you are a returning student you will still have full access to historic learning materials, assignments and feedback located in WOLF/WLVglobal.

To access Canvas you need to have completed your enrolment in e:Vision and have a University IT account. You can access Canvas in the following ways by logging in with your University email address/student number and password:

  • The ‘Modules & Courses’ tile in myWLV (available to taught on-campus undergraduate, postgraduate and postgraduate research students).
  • The ‘Canvas’ app, available on Apple (App Store) and Android (Google Play) devices. You will need to search for ‘Wolverhampton’ before you can log in.
  • Canvas desktop icon, available on all University Windows computers which are located on campus.

If you need help with using Canvas, Canvas Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year via the ‘Help’ button located on the left-hand menu in Canvas. This includes self-help written and video Canvas Guides, live chat and support hotlines (UK and International). Additionally, there is a Student Help and Guidance Course which you can ‘Join’ and will provide you with information to get you started with Canvas.

If you experience problems logging in or have forgotten your password, please contact the IT Service Desk on ITSupport@wlv.ac.uk, extension 2000 from a University telephone or +44 (0) 1902 32 2000 from a telephone outside the University.
