Chairing a Research Degree

Course objectives

By the end of the session you will be able to:

• Approach chairing a viva with confidence;
• Ensure that the University's regulations and Code of Practice are fully observed; and
• Ensure a fair and appropriate experience for the candidates.

Who should attend

All newly appointed Chairs are expected to attend the briefing workshop.  In addition, all members of staff with research supervisory experience who anticipate a request to chair a research degree examinations are encouraged to attend this workshop.
