The Doctoral College Annual Researchers' Residential Week

Come along a join the research community for a packed week of events.  Our Research Residential Week includes the University of Wolverhampton Annual Conference (19th and 20th June), which is followed by several days of researcher development events. Doctoral students at the University of Wolverhampton are spread far and wide across the country, and in fact the world. The Doctoral College’s Research Residential Week aims to bring doctoral students together whether they live in Wolverhampton or Wollongong for a week of educational and social events. The week aims to provide postgraduate researchers with the opportunity to develop their research skills and knowledge development, as well as their networks with other researchers and their community of practice.

University of Wolverhampton Lecture by Jaki Graham (Pro Chancellor)

This series of lectures are open to the general public, staff and students at the University of Wolverhampton. Due to demand booking is essential.

We are delighted to announce that the June 2017 University of Wolverhampton Lecture will be presented by Jaki Graham, Pro Chancellor of the University of Wolverhampton.

Jaki will discuss her road to success, what it means to be from the West Midlands and her role as Pro Chancellor at the University.

Jaki Graham is a three-time Grammy nominated British R&B singer-songwriter and is one of the most appealing Soul entertainers to emerge from the UK. Through her work she has paved the way for many black British female solo artist who followed. As a British soul singer who originally signed with EMI in 1983, Jaki achieved international success with a string of hits from '85 including 'Could it Be I'm Falling In Love?', 'Round and Around', 'Set Me Free', 'Step Right Up' and 'Breaking Away'. Jaki made the Music Guinness Book of Records in the 80's as the first black British female solo artist to have 6 consecutive Top 10/20 hits

Breakfast Bites (Skills Development Session) - The Research Development Framework

Date and Time: Wednesday 21 June 2017, 08:00 – 09:00 in MD165

This session will provide a whistle stop tour of Vitae's Research Development Framework and how it can support your development as a researcher. In this session we will consider why development planning is important, the types of skills that are important to develop as a researcher and how the Research Development Framework can support you in developing development plans and evidencing your development.

Twilight Session: You and your viva (iteration one)

This session will cover all you need to know to prepare for your Viva Voce.

The session will include a review of the practical, process and personal readiness information that you need to consider when approaching your Viva. This session will also include the opportunity to take your place in the viva hot seat, where you will experience answering a couple of general viva style questions.

This session is open to doctoral candidates at all stages of their doctorates.
