Research Excellence

In the last round of assessment for research excellence in the UK (RAE 2008), the University of Wolverhampton was recognised as one of the leading new universities in the West Midlands for research.

Particular research strengths that were recognised included Library and Information Management (i.e .advanced analysis of web content and traffic), Computational Linguistics (ie natural language processing, advanced computer language analysis etc) and Art and Design, and Built Environment.

Receiving almost £2 million in funding as an acknowledgement of this fact, we have continued to invest heavily in building links with business that compliment the activity carried out by our established research institutes and centres. We believe our research has an important role to play in the economic future and regeneration of the region.

We are now making preparations for the REF 2014 and are aiming for even more of our research to be classed as "world-leading" - the highest accolade.
