I liked the exciting project which gave me the opportunity to do both biological and chemical work in 2 different labs
As a chemical engineer, I had a master in polymer science and a keen interest in biology. The University of Wolverhampton had a great opportunity which combined 3 concepts: the use of renewable feedstock, biological production and biodegradability of polymers.
I liked the exciting project which gave me the opportunity to do both biological and chemical work in 2 different labs. I enjoyed making posters, taking part in conferences and discussing the subject with my supervisors.
I am currently working on biotechnology and chemical processes as a project leader. The understanding of product formation and recovery that I got in my PhD is very relevant to my current job. I got the basics there on which I could build my career.
Not only if you like research, but also if you want to go into industry, doing a PhD is very useful. Make a good planning and take targeted decisions when to expand a project. Doing the extra modules on things like “networking” that the Uni offered are worth visiting.
