Centre for Applied Psychometric Testing Using Robust Evidence (CAPTURE)

Our mission

Capture is a collective of researchers and practitioners interested in psychological assessment of individuals in a variety of applied settings. Our aim is to better psychometric practice, develop new tools improve existing psychometric instruments through a combination of research and practice.

Purpose

The purpose and activity of the group is seen as two fold. Firstly to promote quality psychological assessment practice through thorough training and support services. Secondly the group aims to enhance existing psychometric practices, assessments and develop new cutting edge applied tools through research. The group is comprised of those with expertise in psychometric practice and / or research.

Research themes

  • Emotional eating (DEBQ measure development paper in prep)
  • Empathy and compassion in nursing and healthcare professionals
  • Ethnic bias in psychological assessment
  • Test familiarity and it’s impact on test performance (including adverse impact).

Practice Themes

  • Providing British Psychological Society Approved training in Test User qualifications
  • Providing psychometric solutions to organisations in recruitment, selection, performance management and coaching contexts
