Visitors

Learning Centres regularly welcome visitors. When you arrive at the University, please report to the Campus Reception, where you will be given a visitor's pass for the day. This pass will allow you entry into the Learning Centre. Maps of our campuses are available to help you find the Campus Reception and Learning Centres at the site you wish to visit.

All members of the public may

• Use any of the Learning Centres for research, reference and private study
• Photocopy materials, abiding by copyright legislation (see copyright guidelines displayed in Learning Centres)
• Buy photocopy cards from the Help Desk
• Use the library catalogue machines to check availability and location of materials
• Use other facilities where permitted by the Director of Learning & Information Services

Membership

Payment of an external membership charge (£35 per annum) also entitles you to borrow up to 5 long loans at a time. Please be aware that some books are only available as one week loans and these cannot be borrowed by external members.

To obtain an external membership card, take two forms of identity and address, along with a passport photo and fee to any Learning Centre Helpdesk for instant membership.

Please note that an external borrower card does not provide access to other campus facilities or buildings.

When visiting Learning Centres, we expect you to

• Allow others to use the Learning Centres without interference
• Observe signs about acceptable noise levels
• Observe no smoking/hot food/mobile phone signs
• Use Learning Centre Equipment and resources with care
• Take responsibility for children and their supervision at all times, ensuring that they don't disturb other users. Staff cannot take responsibility for children
• Use security exits and show all Learning Centre materials and/or the contents of your bag on request from staff
• Take care of materials issued on your borrower card and pay charges for overdue, lost or damaged materials (where appropriate)
