Reserving

When you search our Online Catalogue, you may come across an item you require which is already out on loan to another borrower or at another Learning Centre. You may reserve/request the item so that it will be put to one side for you at a Learning Centre specified by you.

How do I reserve an item?

To do this you simply need to click on the 'Reserve this item' button below the title you wish to reserve. You will then be asked for your borrower number and PIN. If you do not know your PIN please contact Learning Centre Direct.

You then choose which Learning Centre you would like to collect from and then confirm the reservation.

How long will it take?

You will need to allow sufficient time for reservations to be supplied. Sites deliver reservations in approximately 5 working days, (not including Saturdays and Sundays) in normal circumstance, e.g. if the item is in the correct place on the shelves. Where an item is on loan to another borrower speed of supply is dependent on when the borrower returns the item.

You may prefer to use the free shuttle bus service to fetch items from other campus Learning Centres as this may be quicker.

You will be notified when your reservation is ready to collect via your university email*. If the item is then not collected within 7 days it will be placed back on the shelves.

You are allowed to have up to 5 items reserved at any one time.

Please note that if an item you have out on loan becomes reserved by another borrower you will not be able to renew it and it will need to be returned.

*If you are not receiving reminder emails, please ensure emails from are not going to your junk mail folder. You can find instructions for doing this in Office365 here. To ensure no email from a University address goes to your junk mail, simply add 'wlv.ac.uk' as a Safe Sender.
