Welcome to the new LIS website

Welcome to this brand new LIS website! Over the past year we have studied the web usage statistics, and got feedback from you to find out how you use our website, and what you wanted from it.

You told us that the old LIS site was confusing to navigate, so you often struggled to find important information on it. We also learnt that you mainly use the website to find resources for your studies, either through our Online Catalogue, or in our Electronic Resources pages.

Hopefully you will find this new website much easier to use: it has been designed to be easy to navigate and find the information you need. Some of the most used features can now be found on every page

New Features

As you explore the new website, you will come across a number of new features. Some of the ones we are most proud of are:

Find resources box

Quick and simple access to our Online Catalogue on every page so you can find the book or journal you are after. You can expect much more from this section in the future!

Easier logging in for electronic resources

Some of you may have experienced problems Athens authenticating in the past when trying to use our electronic resources. We have been trying to iron out all the bugs, and now our website makes it even simpler! At the bottom of the Find Resources box it tells you if you have logged in or not. If you haven't, click the log in link, use your IT username and password, and you will be returned to your original page.

New subject pages

All the subject pages have been rewritten to be concise and relevant. If you are not sure where to start looking for information for your course, why not start here? It has a list of useful databases, websites, relevant news feeds, and some guides for your subject to help you get started, all on one convenient page.

Skills for Learning

This section has also been rewritten and merged with Sharpen Up your Skills to create a concise guide to help you develop the skills required for successful academic study.

Feedback

Your feedback in the past has been invaluable in designing this new site, but we are not content to rest on our laurels now. If there is something not working for you on the website, or you think something could be improved, please give us feedback to keep on making improvements to the website. If you think the new website is perfect you are welcome to feed that back too ;)

Future Developments

This redesigned website is just the first step in our attempt to improve our service to you. We have some very exciting developments ahead. Keep an eye on the website for the latest news.

In the mean time, please explore the new LIS site and let us know what you think.
