Entry requirements for students from Syria

International Foundation Year

شهادة الدراسة الثانوية العامة – General Secondary Certificate

Holders of the Al Shadhada al-Thanawiyya al-Amma  with an overall  score of 85% and 85% in relevant degree subject would be eligible for the International Foundation Year.

IELTS 5.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in all components is also required. 

Undergraduate

شهادة مساعد المجاز – Associate degree

A score of 70% or higher in the associate degree will be considered for entry onto the second year of a bachelor programme. A score of 60% will be considered for higher entry onto the first year of a Bachelor degree.

Postgraduate

الإجازة – Bachelor degree / Licence

Students who have completed degree with a minimum of four years from a NARIC or government recognised institution can normally be considered for admission onto a Master’s degree:

A score of 70% from a State University is considered comparable to a 2:1

A score of 60% from a State University is considered comparable to a 2:2

A score of less than 60% from a State University is considered comparable to a UK 3 and would require the completion of a pre-masters course. 

 

A score of 80% from a Private University is considered comparable to a 2:1

A score of 70% from a private university is considered comparable to a 2:2

A score of less than 70% from a private university is considered comparable to a UK 3 and would require the completion of a pre-masters course*

English Language Requirements

English language requirements vary by course and department but are usually the equivalent of IELTS 6.0 with 5.5 in every component.
