Entry requirements for students from Guatemala

International Foundation Year

Students with the Bachiller and with a minimum score of 51% from a public school and 61% from a private school would be eligible for the International Foundation Year.

IELTS 5.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in all components is also required.

Undergraduate

Students holding a Técnico Universitario / Diplomado, Grado Académico de Baccalaureatus with a minimum score of 61% from public institutions and 71% from private institutions in  can be considered for entrance onto the final year of Bachelor programmes.

Students who have undertaken an American High School Diploma with a GPA of 2.7 will also be considered and one of the following:

a) OLD SATR (a.k.a. SAT I) with at least 1700 combined score

b) NEW SAT from March 2016 with at least a combined score of 1150

c) ACT with a score of at least 26

 

Plus one of the following:

a) OLD SAT - Three SAT Subject Tests of at least 550 in each subject (with essential subjects being shown)

b) NEW SAT – Two SAT Subject Tests of at least 570 in each subject (with essential subjects being shown)

c) At least three AP subjects in relevant subjects.

 

A two year associate Diploma with a GPA of 3.3 is also acceptable for direct entry.

Postgraduate

Students who have completed a Licenciatura from a NARIC or government recognised institution can normally be considered for admission onto a Master’s degree.

Public Universities

A score of 71% is considered comparable to a UK 2:1

A score of 61% is considered comparable to a UK 2:2

A score of less than 61% is considered comparable to a UK 3 and would require the completion of a pre-master’s course

 

Private Universities

A score of 81% is considered comparable to a UK 2:1

A score of 71% is considered comparable to a UK 2:2

A score of less than 71% is considered comparable to a UK 3 and would require the completion of a pre-master’s course

English Language Requirements

English language requirements vary by course and department but are usually the equivalent of IELTS 6.0 with 5.5 in every component.
