Bridging School and the Labour Market
Alison Carminke, Business Development Facilitator for Language Networks for Excellence, attended a Transversal Study Visit from 5-9 May 2014.
Transversal Study Visits, for which 2014 is the final year, support professionals, who are working in education and training, to exchange expertise and share best practice across Europe. Alison received funding from Ecorys UK to attend Visit 123 – Bridging school and the labour market.
16 participants from 12 European countries were hosted by Escola Profissional de Aveiro in Portugal, taking part in presentations and visits. Participants found out about the Vocational Education and Training (VET) systems in the participating countries, as well as learning about innovation and best practice in the local area. This included the EFTA school of tourism and the business simulations run by the University of Aveiro.
Alison’s new-found knowledge will be put towards the ELVETE project on VET and the labour market, which the University of Wolverhampton is currently coordinating with 11 European partners. The ELVETE project is funded by the European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Programme.
