The pace-setting Walsall Sports Centre has state-of-the-art facilities – a 12-court sports hall, advanced cardiovascular resistance machines, weight-training and treatment rooms.
We also have a 20m x 10m swimming pool, tennis courts, and extensive sports fields.
Find out how athletes perform and discover the effects of injury on the body in our physiology, psychology and biomechanics labs. The labs have specialist kit such as treadmills, rowers and bicycles.
The laboratories are located on the Walsall Campus, and are operated by BASES-accredited (British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences) members of staff.
The physiology laboratories have facilities for online gas analysis, blood analysis and 12 lead ECG monitoring in addition to blood pressure measurement, lung function evaluation and body composition assessment.
Our biomechanics laboratory includes a video editing suite, force platform, motion analysis system and EMG muscle activity monitoring system. In addition we have various portable systems for off-site and field-based testing. Take a virtual tour of our biomechanics laboratory.
We offer sport science support services to all athletes, ranging from local club level to the elite international competitor.
The sports centre is recognised as one of few Judo Centres of Excellence in the UK by the British Judo Association – it helps develop judo talent for players of national and international standard.
The Centre has already hosted the British Judo Championships and will be used a venue to train Olympic hopefuls for the 2012 London games.
