About the speaker

Following a career in local, central government and the Post Office, in which she held a number of senior roles, Jean Irvine has had a portfolio of Non-Executive Director board posts in the public, private and voluntary sector.

She is currently a Commissioner in the Equality and Human Rights Commission and chairs the Inclusion Policy Panel at the British Computer Society and the IT Accessibility Panel at the Information Technologists Company.

She is also a trustee of the Employers Network on Equality and Inclusion.

Former recent roles include Non-Executive Director of the Chelsea Building Society, Non-Executive Operations Board Member at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, and Vice Chair of RADAR, the UK charity for disability rights. 

Jean was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list in 1994 for services to IT.
