Interests/Achievements

I have taught in HE for 20 years and have wide expertise in teaching from level 4 to level 8.

My main teaching interests are in research methods, sociology and politics.

I am now starting supervision of my 8th & 9th PhD students – a study of the involvement of volunteers in Social Work training & education; and a study of the role of the Academic Link Teacher in Nurse training & education  practice placements.

I have supervised many Master’s dissertations.

My main research methods expertise lies within the qualitative approaches, particularly grounded theory, ethnography and action research.
