All undergraduate courses in the School of Law, Social Sciences and Communications provide a wide range of learning experiences that will help you to develop your knowledge, skills, effectiveness and your graduate future.

You will also have the chance to gain alongside your degree, a Professional Development Award which gives you an additional opportunity to obtain and build further skills and acquire further experience. This will enhance your skillset in ways that will prepare you even more fully for the world of work.

This award is available to all undergraduate students, whether part-time or full-time, whichever course you choose.

The Professional Development Award is both a chance to develop your existing skills and acquire new ones through a range of activities such as:

  • volunteering in the local community
  • work placements in business, community organisations or the public sector
  • contributions to the work of the University Legal Advice Centre
  • studying languages
  • participating in the Students' Union and business enterprise activities.
