Statement

Normally a painter, for my MA I have been using the media of photo-imagery and film. My final photo-imagery work comprises three grid arrangements of individual transformations of interior spaces whilst leaving a trace of the original image. Objects become all but unidentifiable allowing a viewer to engage with a surface and illusion of space in a new and unusual way. One grid arrangement uses paintings of Vermeer interiors, another uses Thomas Struth’s photographs of museums and churches and the third uses the artist’s own domestic space. My film work centres on the exterior and is mainly about our relationship with landscape spaces, especially their immersive quality. I have made abstract interventions, duplications and subtle distortions in order to communicate what that relationship may be saying about us.
