The University of Wolverhampton is proud to work in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) to offer an alternative route to becoming a lawyer.
Driven by flexibility, the courses offer opportunity to further your career and qualification ambitions.
The academic part of the CILEx training programme is made up of two stages of training:
For those already holding a qualifying law degree, we also offer a new Graduate Fast Track diploma which can be used instead of the LPC or BPTC to complete the academic stage of your legal studies.
Once you complete the Level 3 stage of your academic training you will become an Associate Member of CILEx, and after you complete the Level 6 stage you will become a Graduate Member of CILEx.
You also need to fulfil the requirements for five years’ qualifying employment in order to become a Fellow of CILEx, two years of which must take place after you have become a Graduate Member.
Being a legal executive lawyer is a fulfilling and rewarding career. In a law firm you could be a partner (to share in the firm’s profits), or a senior member of staff or department head with a significant client following.
Opportunities also exist for senior roles in the legal departments of commercial organisations, charities, government agencies and local authorities and in the judiciary.
