Architecture and Design
On Wednesday 11 May, the Architecture and
Design department held their annual Major Project Exhibition.
Severn Partnerships were in attendance.
Aneta Kubica (right), was awarded a £50 voucher.
Built Environment
On the 5 May, The
School hosted the Civil Engineering Final Year Design
Project. Students were tasked with Improving Wolverhampton’s Transport Network in the following
areas:
- Access to the i54, development site
- The improvement of the existing Ring Road
junction with Birmingham/Dudley Road
- The improvement of the existing Ring Road
junction with Stafford Street
Three projects were identified in
association with our industrial partners. All projects are
deliberately open-ended meaning the students have the freedom to
generate their own solutions. This well received event was attended
by over 50 people attending including the Director of English
Regions of the ICE, Steve Feeling and a past ICE President
Professor Quentin Leiper. Shailen Shailendra of Centro and the Head
of Transportation Services at Wolverhampton City Council, David
Orton. Also in attendance our Associate Deans Richard Hall and Ann
Latham.
ICE Technician Award

The Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE),
recognised Tracy Hudson, HNC Building student, as the ICE West
Midlands Technician for 2011.
Prison Project
“I am delighted to have won this award and I am now looking
to build upon this as I am currently actively looking a job role in
the Building Surveying or Facilities Management sector.”
Construction students have received awards for their
work on a challenge to design a new prison facility. The
winning design was by John McKay, 31, and he was presented with a
commemorative certificate, with a plaque and book vouchers to be
awarded at the end of year presentations. The other three finalists
were Mathew Norton, Nicholas Green and Neil Jemmet. The project was
part of a Facilities Management module of the BSc (Hons) Building
Surveying degree.
