Centre for Developmental & Applied Research in Education
The Centre for Developmental and Applied Research
(CeDARE) brings together researchers and academics from across the
Institute of Education and the university as a whole. The centre
has a developing reputation with central and local government,
schools, a range of agencies, community organisations and
practitioners for high quality research.
The centre was established to build research capacity and
integrate this increase with a wider range of services targeted at
local and national users of educational research.

Lost in Transition Europe
This European funded project aims to understand current
national strategies that support the transition of
non-traditional or mature learners to Higher Education and
develop strategies and resources. Project partners come from
the UK, Portugal, Poland and Bulgaria.
JISC: Development of
Meaningful Dialogic Participation
This JISC-funded project aims to develop understandings of the
crucial importance of participatory and transformative dialogue in
postgraduate blended/distance programmes. It develops ways of
increasing students’ meaningful engagement online with each other
Young Dads TV
Collaborative Impact Evaluation
This evaluation takes into account the mission and values of Young
Dads TV in order to evaluate its impact and effectiveness, using
the aspirations of YDTV and evidence from the young dads themselves
to frame the evaluation. The evaluation features video case

Longitudinal Study of EYPS
This research explored the impact of Early Years Professionals
(EYPS) on their settings and on practitioners' roles, career
development and aspirations over three years. It was based on two
national surveys of EYPs and in-depth case studies of 30 early
years settings across England.

We develop education development services and products that are
targeted to provide solutions to the whole spectrum of
education-related requirements of all organisations. From CPD for
the continuing development of staff to developing in-house training

CeDARE supports the Institute of Education research and
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes at all levels.
We have developed a Doctorate of Education programme and support

This project for Million+ highlighted the great work in teaching
and assessment being undertaken by modern universities.
longitudinal Study of Early
Years Professional Status (EYPS)
This study for the DCSF/DfE researched the impact of the EYPS
qualification on the Early Years sector. This video was created as
a trailer giving an insight into all of the video case studies.
Young Dads TV Collaborative
