Volunteering your time and energy to work with others gives something back to the community in which you live, work or study.
You gain the satisfaction of contributing the skills you have, and the opportunity to develop new ones. Volunteering can provide valuable experiences that are useful additions to your CV; employers value this kind of learning and commitment as well as more formal ways of learning.
Volunteering is a chance to network and get to know people in your community, as well as to develop an understanding of community issues.
You can build up your confidence ... and you can have fun!
Students may qualify for credits towards their degree programme, or gain further qualifications as a result of volunteering. Find out more about recognition for your volunteering including awards and certificates you can gain.
Our aim is to work in partnership with organisations like yours to help to develop your work with our volunteers. We ask that you help us to ensure that we are providing volunteers with a quality placement. You can do this by downloading our Volunteering Opportunity Registration form, which gives us information about your project and the volunteering opportunities available, as well as any support you provide. Please visit Information for Voluntary and Community Groups for how we may be able to support your organisation.
Staff can take the opportunity to make new connections and develop a wider interest in the community. Volunteering offers the chance for personal and career development because of the valuable experiences and skills you gain. Read more about staff volunteering with the Cares initiative.
