The Workplace

Whether you are looking for your first graduate opportunity, a part-time job while you are studying or a placement to enhance your employability skills, there is always somebody on hand in The Workplace to help you.

We offer a range of recruitment services to University of Wolverhampton students and graduates.

Jobs and Events database

You can access the latest graduate vacancies, internships, part-time jobs and employer events by logging on to our Jobs and Events database.  Look out for the Jobs and Events button on all our webpages.  For help with registering on the database, please read our short guide.

For other sources of jobs see our Vacancies and Opportunities section.

Part-time and vacation work for students

We help you find part-time work that can be fitted around your studies, placing students in over 2,000 part-time and temporary jobs each year.  Many are within the University itself, in a range of clerical and IT posts, and as student helpers, ambassadors and open day tour guides.

Off-campus there are various opportunities for students in the West Midlands during term-time and vacations, including employment in customer service, clerical and data processing work, web design, computer programming, graphic design and translating.

Graduate jobs

Our team of employer liaison officers works closely with local, regional and national companies to keep you in touch with the latest graduate openings.  We can help you get your foot on the first rung of your graduate career ladder and you can access our vacancies for the first three years after you have graduated.

European placements

In Spring 2010 we organised our first international internships, when we placed 15 graduates with employers in The Netherlands for 11 weeks.  This project was funded by Leonardo Lifelong Learning Programme and through it we developed a strong partnership with The Hague University, who helped us organise the placements. In 2011/12 we successfully placed a further 41 graduates and we are delighted that we have now secured funding until 2013.

Placements for 2012/13 will be for 7 or 12 weeks and graduates will be working with a wide range of organisations in The Netherlands and in Spain (a new partnership formed this year). All participants will take part in local language sessions before and during their placements.

For further information or to apply see placements in Holland/Spain

Employer visits and events

We host visits from a range of employers with immediate and future recruitment needs, ranging from major retail companies such as House of Fraser seeking part-time seasonal staff to graduate recruiters such as Marston and EDS.  We run a number of Careers events each year; for example in 2010/11 and 2011/12 we hosted the Annual Recruitment Fair which had over 35 exhibitors and were attended by over 1000 students and graduates. Look out for details on forthcoming employer events on our Jobs and Events database and our blog.

Opening times

We are open at our Careers and Employment Centre in the Student Services Gateway, Wolverhampton campus (MB building) from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday all year round (except Bank Holidays). We operate on a drop-in system; no appointment necessary.  We are also available at Walsall, where we are based alongside the Student Office in WA building; times vary at Walsall, so please check before visiting us there.
