Education Research Study

CeDARE supports the School of Education research and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes at all levels. We have developed a Doctorate of Education programme and support PhD students.

A growing number of students and staff undertaking research degrees are making a significant contribution to education research, as well as partaking in a multitude of conferences and research events. Recent and future investment in university facilities are further enhancing the research environment for both students and staff.

With over 300 students on postgraduate Education programmes, as well as over 700 associate students, the School of Education has over 1000 students actively applying research in their studies and carrying out small-scale research.

Within this body of students a number of practitioner research networks have been developed and are actively supported by staff who draw additional support from key regional and national organisations. Students from these networks run their own research conferences, seminars and workshops. They also present annually at the School of Education's practitioner research conference, as well as conferences supported by the University Learning and Teaching Network across the various campuses of the University of Wolverhampton. In addition, some students are involved with other national and international events.

Our PhD students attend regular meetings of the post-graduate forum and make a significant contribution to research seminars and the annual School of Education's research conference.

Student Staff

A growing number of University staff are registered on postgraduate courses, including part-time PhDs and the Doctor of Education course, and conducting pedagogical or educational policy research within their own particular subject areas. Measures are being taken in order to support more staff to do this internally. These staff make a great contribution to the education research community within the university where they also act as role models for HE professionals and disseminate their work to the wider research community.
