About Patricia Dillon
Patricia Dillon has an MA in Fashion and Textile Design, specialising in knitwear from Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design, London. She received a BA in Knitwear Design from Nottingham Trent University. She currently provides consultancy services to DKNY, New York and the Taiwan Textile Federation. She has previously examined one PhD student, co-supervised two and is currently working with another.
Patricia is a principal partner in the ‘Diversity Studio’ which was established in 2001. The ‘Diversity Studio’ is recognized for its ability to produce fabrics using a range of techniques, materials, processes for commercial (large and small scale production) or for exhibition purposes. Patricia began her career in Fashion Knitwear design, working with such companies as Hardy Amies, London, Gloria Sachs, New York and Dunluce Knitwear, Northern Ireland. Her work covers a number of design disciplines including illustration, consultancy, and the development of trend forecasting reports for fashion and interiors. Her textile work utilizes a mix of knit, stitch and embellishment, as well as digital approaches to fabric design and printing. The work is presented in Paris as original designs to inform future markets.
Pat’s research interests are defined by an interest in textiles and their development within the social-economic conditions of the contemporary fashion industry. She has also has a secondary involvement in haptic technologies in relationship to the sensory evaluation of textiles.
