Maths Teacher

Teaching is becoming an increasingly popular choice for a wide variety of people and can be a very rewarding career. At the University of Wolverhampton we offer a range of teacher training courses that get you to your goal of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the most suitable way.

Both our primary and secondary teacher training departments are Ofsted rated Grade 1: Outstanding for their provision. Our high quality training means that our graduates benefit from high employability and great long-term prospects. In fact, 93% of 2008 teacher training graduates are currently employed in teaching and education roles with almost all of these as paid teaching positions in schools. Primary Teaching (3-11yrs)

Primary teaching is a very rewarding career path. Our BEd undergraduate and PGCE postgraduate courses are popular and ideal routes to becoming a primary teacher giving you all of the theoretical and practical experience that you need to be a confident, effective teacher.

Secondary Teaching (11-18yrs)

Secondary teachers teach their subject specialism at all levels of the 11-18 age range. Training is available at postgraduate level for candidates with an undergraduate degree in the their specialist area. Our PGCE in Secondary Education is the quickest and most condensed way for non-experienced trainees to qualify as a secondary school teacher.

Post-Compulsory Education - PCE (14+ yrs) 

Post compulsory teachers teach at further education colleges in the Lifelong Learning sector. We offer a variety of programmes for both in-service teachers and pre-service teachers that generate the evidence required for your application for Qualified Teacher Learning & Skills (QTLS) status which may be applied for following successful completion of a DTLLS. All of our programmes focus on reflective practice developing key skills to becoming an effective teacher.

Employment-based routes (EBITT)

There are several employment-based routes into teaching that involve being employed as an unqualified teacher whilst you qualify. These routes suit those wanting a change of career and who need to continue earning a salary as they train.
