Common mental health problems such as depression,
anxiety, phobias and obsessive-compulsive states affect one in six
people at any one time.
Severe and enduring mental health problems such as schizophrenia
affect about one in 200 people each year.
Concerns about mental illness are such that the Government has
given a high priority to this area, along with coronary heart
disease and cancers.
