Bursaries

Our Start Right Bursary can give you up to £500 in each year you study with us - and doesn't have to be paid back.

You are entitled to a Start Right Bursary if:

  • you are a UK student on an undergraduate degree course for which the current fee is £3,375
  • your family household income is less than £35,000.

If your total family income is:

  • £25,000 or less – we’ll give you an extra £500 a year.
  • £25,001-£35,000 – we’ll give you an extra £300 a year.

Even better, you get your bursary from us automatically once you have applied for your student financial support package from Student Finance England (SFE).

The Bursary will be paid to you automatically from January onwards, after you have started your course.

Eligibility

To be assessed for a Start Right bursary, you must apply for means tested financial support from Student Finance England (or your local authority).

Sponsors must consent to share their financial information with the University so that household income is made available for assessment. .

Students and sponsors must also submit all financial evidence requested by Student Finance before any bursary award will be approved and paid by the University.

Letters of confirmation for bursaries will be issued initially during semester one, in time for payment at the beginning of semester two, and then throughout the rest of the academic year for those who miss the initial January payment.
