The SNIC conference took place on April 23rd 2010 in the Lighthouse Media Centre in the city of Wolverhampton, West Midlands. The event was organised by the Wolverhampton Internet and Technology Society (WITS) together with the Statistical Cybermetrics Research Group
By all accounts the conference was a resounding success, particularly considering that this was the first ever SNIC event. The conference attracted over 60 delegates from across the globe. Although a diverse range of topics were covered, a number of interesting themes emerged, including: individual differences in social networking, online support, security and privacy and online identities (see conference programme below for a full list of talks).
Conference delegates can share their experiences of the conference, view photos taken at the conference or just chat about their research by joining our SNIC 2010 Facebook group.
The SNIC conference is proud to confirm that the International Journal of Internet Science will be publishing a peer-reviewed selection of the best papers from the conference. Deadline for submission of papers is the 28th of May, 2010. Papers must be formatted according to APA guidelines. Please send full papers to SNIC@wlv.ac.uk for the attention of Chris Fullwood.
The following have been confirmed as keynote speakers at the conference:
Professor Mike Thelwall: University of Wolverhampton – “Detecting and analysing emotion in social networking sites” (Professor Thelwall's abstract)
