Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Geoff Hurd presented more than
50 staff with certificates of achievement and a financial
contribution to their staff development at the University’s annual
Rewarding Excellence Awards Ceremony.
Lecturers from the University’s ten academic Schools received
awards in the categories of ‘Innovation in Learning and Teaching’,
‘Blended Learning Tutor’, and ‘Early Practitioner Tutor’, which
rewards staff who have been with the university for less than six
years.
Support staff from the Careers Advisory Team, Registry, IT
Services and Learning and Information Services also received awards
for their valuable contribution to Learning Support.
Professor Geoff Hurd said: “The Rewarding Excellence ceremony
recognises all those who have made outstanding contributions to
teaching and student support at the University. They have all shown
the ability to influence students positively to help them achieve
specific learning objectives. I would like to congratulate all the
award winners.”
The ceremony on Monday (Jan 19) focused on the theme of blended
learning at the University, which combines online learning
technologies with face-to-face learning sessions. Guests were shown
a short film featuring University staff and students’ comments on
how innovative blended learning, using a wide range of technologies
from podcasts to e-portfolios, is enriching the student learning
experience.
