IT Futures celebrates regional business award

IT Futures, based at the University of Wolverhampton, left stiff regional competition standing with its success at the coveted ICT Excellence Awards 2008.

The IT Futures' project e-Business Adoption, which assists regional leisure and tourism businesses, was the overall winner in the Best Public Sector Project Award category.

The e-Business Adoption Project helps local leisure and tourism companies to develop their business online and promote the benefits of e-business. The project also delivers training on a range of topics including web design, internet marketing and e-commerce, right through to security issues.

Diana Thompson, Business Director at IT Futures, said: “We are absolutely delighted with this award and it is fantastic for the e-Business Adoption team who have helped over 250 small and medium sized businesses. The project has been so successful in making a real difference to businesses across the region. We are grateful for the continued support from Advantage West Midlands as with their help we can do more for businesses in the region.”

The ICT Excellence Awards were presented at the evening Awards event following the Annual ICT Cluster Conference held at Birmingham Motorcycle Museum on 20 November 2008.

Based at the City Campus of the University of Wolverhampton, IT Futures employs 27 people and brings the expertise of the University’s School of Computing and Information Technology to the business community.
