Motivational Miles to visit Uni

 

Miles is the first speaker of the academic year in the Inspirational Leadership seminar series, held at Wolverhampton Science Park. He will visit the University on Tuesday 21 October 2008.

 

Miles Hilton-Barber has completed a number of remarkable adventures since 1999, setting numerous world records in the process. In 2000, he set a world record as the first blind person to man-haul a sledge over 400 km across Antarctica. His adventures have also included completing "the toughest foot-race on earth" - 150 miles across the Sahara Desert in the Marathon des Sables; climbing to 17,500 feet in the Himalayas; climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Blanc and running the 11-day Ultra-Marathon race across China from the Gobi Desert to the Great Wall.

 

Paul Bishton, Head of Midlands Leadership Centre, said “Miles will be using his experiences as an international adventurer to motivate, challenge and inspire others to achieve their potential. He will be offering practical ideas that work for everyone, and we are delighted to welcome him, and his guide-dog Buster, to the University.”

 

The seminars are organised by the University of Wolverhampton

 

Leadership and Development (LEAD) and previous speakers have included Ann Summers founder Jacqueline Gold and former athlete Kriss Akabusi.
